Medical Databases

CINAHL GALILEO logo from EBSCOhost
Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature includes Communicative Disorders among its allied health professions. CINAHL covers 800 nursing and allied health journals and other selected biomedical journals. Use CINAHL for speech and language therapy from a clinical or medical perspective. It will retrieve articles not found in MEDLINE.

MEDLINE with Full Text GALILEO logo from EBSCOhost
MEDLINE will retrieve articles on speech therapy not found in CINAHL. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE covers over 4,800 biomedical journals dating back to 1964, with abstracts from 1985 to the present. EBSCO's version provides links to full text articles from journals supplied by EBSCO from 1990 to the present. MEDLINE is also contained in the National Library of Medicine's PubMed database which includes "in-process" records for articles that have not yet been entered into MEDLINE. It also covers a broader range of journals, but does not provide full text articles.

ERIC has been covering the literature of education since 1966 in journals and non-journal publications which are called "ERIC Documents."
