Armstrong's Greatest Generation
In May of 1939, Armstrong Junior College coed Maree Helmken captured the sunny mood of springtime Savannah for a Life Magazine feature on cool cotton dresses. Three months later, on September 1, Nazi Germany invaded Poland and Europe was at war.
This digital collection is based on the exhibit curated by Caroline Hopkinson, Reference Librarian and Head of Special Collections. All text was written by Dr. Janet Stone of the History Department. Jenna Rinalducci, Reference & Instruction Librarian, created this online exhibit based on the work of Ms. Hopkinson and Dr. Stone.
